Barack Obama Sends Out First Tweet From Civilian Account – Internet Goes Wild

After a long and magnificent eight years as President of the United States, Barack Obama has officially returned to his personal Twitter account. Now the Obama family will have to adjust to becoming everyday citizens again.

After Trump was sworn in Friday, Obama jokingly tweeted:

Hi everybody! Back to the original handle. Is this thing still on? Michelle and I are off on a quick vacation, then we’ll get back to work.’

Throughout his eight years in office, there were several achievements that were significant in taking a stand and making a change. He made history. According to BR during his farewell address he mentioned the accomplishments that were made with the support of America backing him:

‘If I had told you eight years ago that America would reverse a great recession, reboot our auto industry, and unleash the longest stretch of job creation in our history…if I had told you that we would open up a new chapter with the Cuban people, shut down Iran’s nuclear weapons program without firing a shot, and take out the mastermind of 9/11…if I had told you that we would win marriage equality, and secure the right to health insurance for another 20 million of our fellow citizens – you might have said our sights were set a little too high.’

As President, Obama put forth every effort to make the U.S. a better place and as the First Lady, Michelle Obama went above and beyond to do her part as well.

The Obama family absolutely deserves to go on vacation and kick back after all the hard work they have put in over the last eight years. We will truly miss them but there are not enough words to express how grateful we are for the time they gave us. Even though he no longer holds the office as President, he will never be forgotten.

We now have Donald J. Trump as the President of the U.S. and all I can say is hold on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

But incase you forgot how touching and genuine Obama’s farewell address was, here is your chance to see it again:
