Even Trump supporters are calling his reaction to our intelligence agencies naming Russia as responsible for the hacks, “near treason”. Let that sink in Trumpbots. Trump hasn’t even been sworn in and he’s being accused of committing near treason. When he called on Russia to hack Hillary, during the campaign, that was clearly treason.
Why was no action taken at that time?
We really have no mechanism in this country to take down a treasonous individual on the level of a presidential candidate, other than Congressional action, and, as we have seen, that didn’t happen.
According to OD Former CIA officer Glenn Carle, who served under Reagan all the way up to George W. Bush, confirmed in an interview with Radio Boston that Trump is so disconnected from the CIA that he is not even on speaking terms with the agency and is a threat to our national security.
“If you can’t talk to the President, how can you function?” he asked. “If the President is dismissing any product, any assessment that you make, as somehow partisan or unwelcome, and simply locked out, then you serve no purpose,” Carle explained of the Trump-toddler phenomenon.
However, as Carle describes, this is nothing when compared to the terrifying fact that Trump is completely unfit to serves as America’s Commander in Chief. He continued:
“There’s a rift flowing all across the headlines, the page and everyone’s consciousness. It’s tremendous. But it actually is only a secondary issue compared to the larger issue of the competence, or lack thereof, of the President-elect with regard to national security and international affairs,” Carle said. “It’s stunning, and an existential moment for the United States, much less the C.I.A., absolutely.”
As a veteran, Carle’s colleagues had experience working as far back as the Eisenhower administration, meaning he has had second-hand experience with more than half of the presidents of the last century. This adds extra gravity to the fact that, no president, ever, has posed as great a threat as Trump—who is a loose cannon and should never have been elected to begin with.
“It’s a horrifying moment,” Carle validates. “Others have said that the U.S. is facing — and I completely agree and I myself have said separately — that the U.S. is facing the greatest crisis to its institution since 1861.”
The scariest part of Trump is his outward denial of reality, motivated by his narcissism. Like calling climate change a “hoax,” if Trump doesn’t want to hear something he won’t. Carle does not think that he will grow into his role or mature in any plausible way. It’s already too late for Trump and Carle attests, “We have seen from the first day what the visceral psychological approach to interactions is of the President-elect and that won’t change. He will remain egocentric, narcissistic, very defensive, and will deny, destroy and attack anything that challenges anything other than praise for him. That does not augur well at all for relations of the C.I.A. with the executive in the Oval Office, or the functioning of the national security establishment.”
This bleak circumstance and attack on our security from the inside out is not to be taken lightly. Our country faces tremendous risk if our leading national security agency and the leader of the nation can’t see eye-to-eye, or even communicate. Unfortunately, this does not hurt Trump—this hurts us. Lives will be lost under his administration, and it’s frightening to think that our only hope might be impeachment.
