Michael Moore: ‘Do Not Call Yourself A Christian’ If You Support Donald Trump (DETAILS)

What America has said with the election of this man, is that they don’t care if some old man molested their young daughters, because this is what they voted for! They’ve said that it’s ok if some old perverted man walked in on their young daughters while naked in a dressing room, because this is what they voted for! They’ve said that it’s ok for a dirty old famous man to grab their daughters by the genitals, because that’s what they voted for! They’ve said it’s ok for a dirty old man to body shame their daughters, because that’s what they voted for. What America has said, in essence, is that we are a country with no morals, nor do we respect, or love, our daughters, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts women! Because this is what you’ve voted for!

According to BR Michael Moore appeared on Joy Reid’s MSNBC show, AM Reid, on Saturday with a message for white folks and especially those who call themselves Christians.

While many Americans were upset and disheartened by Tuesday night’s election results, Moore asserted that it is white America that has a particular responsibility now that Donald Trump has once again validated the vile and extreme racism that has existed in our country since its inception. While many white Americans believed that racism had tempered, or that the most extreme forms of racism, at least, were a thing of the past, Moore spoke pointedly to those who were shocked to find that racism is still prevalent among many white Americans and tolerable to many more.

‘White people, no matter how painful, have a responsibility to reject anybody who stands in front of a camera who spews racism. Who spews sexism, misogyny. Who brags about being a sexual predator. I don’t care what your race is, but especially if you’re white. Because that means that you belong to the race that’s been in power forever. This a country that was founded on genocide and built on the backs of slaves. So you have a special responsibility as a white person to always object to anybody who uses racism, who spews this hatred.’

Waking up to a country filled with gleeful racists bent on asserting their white supremacy with violence in the wake of a Trump victory may disgust and repel many white folks, but it is people of color who are left to deal with the outcome. White Americans who are horrified by this absolutely must stand against this racism and this violence and use their privilege to speak against it, act against it, and stop its momentum in its tracks.

As Michael Moore said on Saturday, it is especially the responsibility of those of who call ourselves Christians to stand against this hate.

‘And do not call yourself a Christian if you are not willing, literally, to put your body in front of whoever is coming to hurt the other — the people who are not you.’

Those who are unwilling to put their own bodies, with all the privilege and rights to justice that those bodies carry, in front of the ones who have been dehumanized and disenfranchised by the empowerment of white hate throughout history, but with renewed vigor in the wake of Donald Trump’s election, are complicit with those who commit those acts. That isn’t Christ-like. It isn’t acceptable, and it shouldn’t be to anyone, much less those who claim Christianity.
